Supply Base Management

Italic works in a collaborative manner with its staffing partners. A regular forum to discuss market tends and developments ensure that best practice is shared throughout the supply base. The staffing partners are evaluated on combination of the following metrics that are generated by the IMS system:

Response Rates – number of vacancies responded to with the submission of at least one candidate.

Response Timings – the average time taken to submit the placed candidate.

Quality of Candidates – how closely did the individual submitted by the agency match the job and person specification.

Average Charge Rate – the average charge rate per grade for placed candidates versus the client rates. This indicates cost savings generated by each staffing partner’s actual rate reductions.

Fill Rate – number of vacancies filled versus the number made available to the staffing partner.

Attrition Rate – reasons why the temporary staff left their roles. A positive reason could be that the assignment was completed, whilst a negative reason could be that the individual was dismissed with cause.

Italic adopts and run a continuous improvement methodology. The cycle involves the application of the metrics in a controlled and strategic approach collaboratively with the staffing partners and the client.

The supplier relations reps use the metrics applied via a balanced score card to assess the strengths of each individual staffing agency versus agreed targets and the agencies within each skill group. The staffing partners are provided with their performance metrics on a quarterly basis. The overall supply base trends are reviewed in the quarterly supply base meetings. During these meetings roadblocks to service delivery are discussed and issues raised to help improve the process. Staffing partners have benefited from this in a demonstrable way; they have seen their businesses grow as a result of shared best practice from these sessions.
